Tendonitis is a condition which occurs in joints where the tough fibrous tendons which attach muscle to bone become inflamed and irritated, often due to the restriction of the smooth gliding motion of the tendon across the joint. If tendonitis injuries are caught early they can be treated successfully in a non invasive manner.
Common tendonitis injuries include wrist tendonitis, elbow tendonitis, knee tendonitis, shoulder tendonitis and Achilles tendonitis. Helpful steps to reduce the pain caused by a tendonitis joint injury would include: Stopping the activity that caused the pain, rest the affected area for periods of up to three weeks whilst immobilising the joint using a tendonitis joint support or a sling if you are suffering from shoulder tendonitis, before returning to light exercise. If the pain persists visit a doctor for more prescriptive treatment.
