Core Mobility Exercise
Before undertaking any form of exercise it is strongly recommended that the core of the body should be sufficiently warmed up to prevent lower back injuries, lower back strains and pain.
Lateral Mobility Exercise
One such core mobility exercise is the Lateral Mobility Exercise which is a simple lower back loosening exercise and can be performed by following the instructions below:
- Take a standing position; your feet should be shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent and toes facing forwards;
- The back should be kept straight and verticalwith the palms of both hands on the outer thighs;
- Whilst in this vertical position bend your body side ways to the left from the waist, sliding the palm of your hand down the thigh towards the knee;
- Do not overreach and return to the standing position;
- Repeat on the right hand side,before carrying out the exercise three more times on each side.
- Good spinal posture should be maintained throughout this exercise
This lateral mobility exercise is often performed by those who suffer from a weak lower back and require core lumber back support during exercise. The most frequently purchased product used to stabilize the core of the body during exercise is the Core Lumbar Active Support from VertiBaX; VB120.
