Using the correct seat wedge can make a difference to your sitting posture in a range of seats, from car seats to office chairs, helping to enhance the natural “S” shape of the spine and in doing so relieving pressure at its base and thus helping to relieve back pain. How do I select the correct seat wedge?

• Firstly, consider whether you require a seat wedge for a vehicle seat or a non vehicle seat. Slim-line wedges are ideal for vehicle seats as they ensure that you still have the required head room.
• Secondly, consider whether you require a coccyx seat wedge or a non coccyx seat wedge. A coccyx seat wedge has the area directly beneath the coccyx bone cut out to relieve pressure at the base of the spine.
• Thirdly, consider how firm you would like the seat wedge to be; whether it be the standard polyurethane filled firmer product or the memory foam seat wedge, providing evenly distributed pressure over your seat area as the memory foam moulds to the shape of the body, as if the product was made especially for you.

A correctly selected seat wedge tilts the hips whilst sitting, aiding body posture, helping to ease sitting enhanced lower back pain, working alongside the rehabilitation process in conjunction with your medical practitioner.
