Sacro Lumbar Back Supports: Explained
Sacro Lumbar Back Supports are not only designed to provide support and protection to the lumbar region of the back, but to also provide mobilisation assistance to the two sacroiliac joints, which lie either side of the spine, making up the rear part of the pelvic girdle.
The lumbar region of the back may be found on the body by counting the lowest five vertebrae of the back bone, starting at the base of the back above the coccyx. These five vertebrae therefore lie between the chest and the hips and as they are the largest and strongest of all the vertebrae in the back bone, they provide sturdy support and are particularly well suited to their weight bearing function. Spinous processes coming off the bone structure are attached to lower back muscle groups. Weakness in this area can result in back pain, something that can be reduced by selecting the correct back support.

Although both products carry out a similar function, equally effectively, meaning that they provide a high level of support to the lumbar region of the back, whilst helping to mobilise the Sacroiliac Joint, they have different fabric and manufacture specifications which makes them more or less suited to different situations.

The Oppo: Sacro Lumbar Support provides maximum support to the mid and lower back without restricting the bodies natural movements. It has four pliable metal stays on the back to provide extra support with a hook and loop closure system with two additional straps allowing for a wide range of adjustable compressions. The product is made from a cotton lined breathable fabric based on open cell neoprene. This makes it more suitable for longer periods of wear time.

The LP: Sacro Lumbar Support also has four pliable metal stays, again with hook and loop closure system with two additional straps allowing for a wide range of adjustable compressions. However it has a 75% laminated nylon covering which makes it harder wearing than the Oppo product, being more suitable for the sporting individual, looking for support and protection in the Sacro Lumbar region during activity.
