Seated Chest Press Resistance Exercise

Performing an effective chest press exercise will help prevent injury to the muscles in the upper body and back of the upper arm. Including the pectorals, tricep and anterior deltoid muscles.

Instructions:

  • \"\"Adopt a seated position with your back straight, adjust the seat so that the handles are lined up to your mid-chest (sternum) level.
  • Your elbows should be high and in line with your shoulders.
  • Wrists should be kept rigid.
  • Grip the bar with a closed overhand grip (pronated)
  • In a smooth controlled movement, push your arms forward (shoulder horizontal flexion)
  • Fully extend your elbows before returning back to the start position. 
  • Thoughout the exercise keep the spine in neutral, with elbows off lock and eyes facing forwards.
