Lying Hamstring Stretch

Performing an effective stretch of the upper leg will help to prevent injury to muscles, including the hamstring.

Instructions:

  • \"\"Lie face up with the back straight;
  • and the spine in neutral;
  • bend the hip to approx 90 degrees;
  • keeping the left leg straight (extended) and the foot on the floor.
  • Straighten (extend) the right leg, keeping the knee off lock and pull the leg in towards the body.
  • Place both hands around the back of the right thigh or calf for support. 
  • If the leg starts to shake you\'ve taken the stretch too far and you needs to ease off slightly.
  • Hips stay in contact with the floor.
