Torso: Lateral Mobility Exercise

This involves a side to side movement when in a standing position, flexing muscles in the torso including; the internal obliques, the rectus abdominus, the spinal erectors, the external obliques and the quadratus lumborum. 

Intructions: 

  • \"\"Take a standing position; your feet should be shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent and toes facing forwards;

  • The back should be kept straight and vertical with the palms of both hands on the outer thighs;

  • Whilst in this vertical position bend your body side ways to the left from the waist, sliding the palm of your hand down the thigh towards the knee;

  • Do not over reach and return to the standing position;

  • Repeat on the right hand side, before carrying out the exercise three more times on each side.

  • Good spinal posture should be maintained throughout this exercise.
