Performing an effective calf stretch will help to prevent injury to muscles in the lower leg, including the Gastronemius muscle and Soleus muscle.

Instructions:

  • \"\"From a normal standing position;
  • take a step forward with one leg;
  • ensuring that the front leg is bent;
  • and the rear leg is straight.
  • Both feet should be facing forwards;
  • and the line from the stretched leg should be straight,
  • running from the heel through the thigh and through the body.
  • The hips and shoulders should be kept square;
  • throughout the stretch, with the knees off lock;
  • maintaining neutral spine throughout.
