Bench Press Barbell Exercise
Performing an effective exercise on the bench press will work on muscles in the front upper body and back of the upper arm. Including the pectorals, tricep and anterior deltoid.
Instructions:

You will need to take a wider than shoulder width overhand (pronated) closed grip on the bar, keeping your arms straight, your elbows should be directly under your hands.- With a smooth controlled motion lower the bar until your arms are bent to either a 90 degree position, or when the bar is just above your chest a mild stretch should be felt.
- The precise position should be determined by your individual range of movement.
- Do not allow the bar to bounce off the chest.
- Push the bar back to the start position by straightening (extension) your arms ensuring that you maintain a rigid wrist position.
- Throughout the exercise maintain a neutral spine, keeping the elbows off lock and the eyes forward.
